First of all, we need to know that the VIVO IPL is TATA IPL now, TATA is the main sponsor of the Indian Premier League from 2022.

BCCI has confirmed that the 15th edition of IPL will be played in India and there would be 4 venues for all 70 league stage matches.

IPL chairman Brijesh Patel has already confirmed the IPL 2022 start date & Final date.

IPL 2022 Groups

IPL 2022 Group List: In the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League total of Ten teams will be participated. After the mega auction, all teams management is looking forward to setting team combination and they are all set to participate in the IPL 2022.BCCI has decided to conduct this IPL in a new format and divided all teams into two groups, Group A & Group B. There are five teams in each group.

Appearance in Final

If a team has not won the trophy a single time then their previous position in the point table will consider

5 times IPL winner Mumbai Indian is at the top of Group A whereas 4 times IPL winner Chennai Super Kings is at the top of Group B.

2 times IPL winner Kolkata Knight Riders is at the 2nd position in Group A whereas 1-time IPL winner Sun Risers Hyderabad is at the 2nd position in Group B.

note: SRH and RR both won the IPL 1 time but the Sun Risers Hyderabad has entered the final 2 times and RR has entered the final 1 time.

1-time IPL winner RR placed at 3rd position in Group A whereas 3times final appearance made RCB 3rd place in Group B.

Delhi has entered in final 1 time so DC placed at 4th position in Group A whereas Punjab has also made 1 appearance in final so PK placed at 4th position in Group B.

LSG and GT both are new teams so they are in 5th position in Group A and Group B respectively.

IPL 2022 Format

According to the new format of IPL 2022, a total of 70 league matches will be played, each team will play 14 league matches in which 7 matches are on home ground and the rest 7 are home away matches.

After league stage 4 playoff matches will be played.

Each team will play twice(2 times) against 5 teams and that 5 teams are – 4 same Group remaining teams & 1 opposite Group & same level team.

& Each team will play a single(1 time) match against the rest 4 teams of opposite Group.

Explanation: MI will play 2 matches against KKR, RR, DC, LSG(same group teams), and CSK(opposite group & same level team), and MI will play a single match against Sun Risers Hyderabad, Royal Challengers Banglore, Punjab Kings, Gujrat Titans.

IPL 2022 Venue

70 league matches will be played on 4 venue in Mumbai and Pune. There are two venues from each city.Each team will play 4 matches on both Wankhede and DY Patil Stadium & 3 matches on Brabourne Stadium and MCA International Stadium.
